Linda Beaupre

Biography

Linda Beaupre is a Fort Worth–associated painter active by at least 1995. Her known work explores the visual character of roadside America through images of isolated, idiosyncratic structures and quietly atmospheric landscapes. Surviving documentation places her within the orbit of Fort Worth’s Studio111/Artspace111 community, an artist-centered environment that developed from the Studio111 spaces established in 1980.[1]

Beaupre’s documented painting Spaceage Lodge (Flying Saucer) depicts a desolate winter roadside scene centered on an orange, 1950s-style spaceship-like building. Its imagery suggests an interest in vernacular architecture, roadside fantasy, and the subtle strangeness of overlooked American places. The title Spaceage Lodge is retained as the primary title because it appears in Artspace111’s catalog record; Flying Saucer is included as an alternate title documented in the McNamara collection inventory.[2][3]

Artspace111 records Spaceage Lodge (Flying Saucer) as dated 1995, oil on canvas, 12 × 24 inches. The McNamara inventory identifies Flying Saucer as dated 2001, oil on paper, with a visible image size of 8½ × 17 inches and framed dimensions of 14 × 23 inches. These conflicting details may reflect variations in gallery and collection records, later framing or inventory practices, or an unresolved question of date and medium. Until the work’s inscription, verso, original gallery label, or artist documentation is examined, both records should be retained.[3][2]

In 2020, Artspace111 included Spaceage Lodge (Flying Saucer) in Studio111: Collective Inspiration, a historical exhibition marking the gallery’s fortieth anniversary and recalling the artists, archival materials, and creative culture associated with Studio111. Its inclusion establishes Beaupre’s connection to this important Fort Worth artistic milieu.[1]

Although Beaupre’s education, birth and death dates, full exhibition record, and broader oeuvre have not yet been located in publicly accessible sources, the available documentation identifies her as a painter whose work contributes to the visual and social history of the Studio111/Artspace111 community.
